San Francisco Dog: Carrot, Cucumber and Radish Salad with Herb Mayonnaise

Inspired by the incredible farms and restaurants around the Bay Area, this little salad topping is refreshing and beautiful. The green-flecked mayo adds a touch of richness.

Ingredients

Hot Dogs

Herb Mayonnaise

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup finely chopped mixed fresh herbs, such as basil, mint, cilantro, parsley, chives, and tarragon

Carrot, Cucumber, and Radish Salad

  • 4 radishes, trimmed
  • 2 small Persian cucumbers
  • 1 carrot, peeled
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

Hot Dogs

  1. Grill the hot dogs to desired doneness.
  2. Spread some of the herb mayonnaise on each toasted bun.
  3. Arrange a hot dog in each bun and top with some of the salad.
  4. Garnish each hot dog with a few mint and cilantro leaves.

Herb Mayonnaise

  1. Stir together the mayonnaise and chopped herbs in a small bowl until well combined.
  2. Refrigerate, tightly wrapped, until ready to use.

Carrot, Cucumber, and Radish Salad

  1. Using a mandolin, slice the radishes very thinly.
  2. Transfer to a mixing bowl.
  3. Slice the cucumbers and carrot very thinly lengthwise on the mandolin and transfer to the bowl with the radishes.
  4. Toss the vegetables with the oil and vinegar, and salt and pepper to taste.
